About JEI

Long known for its research of aggregates found in southern Iceland, the firm Jardefnaidnadur, abbreviated "JEI" now specializes in processing pumice from Mt. Hekla for building and horticulture.

Hekla pumice is a lightweight, porous stone of volcanic nature. Iceland's main pumice resources are in the southern part of the country around the large and very active volcano, Mt. Hekla. The mining and processing of the pumice is based on extensive research.

The processing consists of grinding and screening of the pumice to various grain sizes. A third step, washing in crystal clear freshwater, can even further improve the quality of the Hekla pumice.

The main export markets of JEI are in Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, U.S.A., Sweden and Belgium.
